E-CONTRAIL at the Living Planet Symposium 2025 in Vienna

Last week, the E-CONTRAIL project returned to Vienna, Austria to take part in the Living Planet Symposium 2025 (LPS25), hosted by the European Space Agency (ESA).

As one of the largest global conferences dedicated to Earth observation, LPS25 brought together a diverse community of scientists, policy makers, innovators, and industry experts to explore the latest advancements in satellite-based environmental monitoring.

We were proud to contribute to this important event. Our team member from BIRA, Jeroen van Gent, presented a poster featuring the E-CONTRAIL dashboard — a visualisation tool developed to assess the climate impact of contrails and aviation-induced cloudiness.

We had the opportunity to connect with many participants who showed strong interest in the tool, asked thoughtful questions, and shared valuable insights, reaffirming the growing importance of addressing aviation’s climate footprint.

A sincere thank you to everyone who took the time to engage with the E-CONTRAIL work. We look forward to continue collaboration!
