ATMOS Conference

From July 1-5, the E-CONTRAIL project flew to Bologna, Italy, to attend ATMOS 2024, a conference organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) under the EO Science for Society Program Element focused on atmospheric science and applications using data from ESA and Earth Observation (EO) missions.

The conference aimed to provide a platform for scientists to share their latest research and application developments, leveraging past and current atmospheric data. Key objectives include fostering the scientific community, presenting updates on various atmospheric missions, and promoting the synergistic use of diverse instruments. Themes encompass reactive trace gases, clouds, aerosols, greenhouse gases, volcanic emissions, water vapor, air quality, climate monitoring, atmospheric dynamics, Earth's radiation budget, data assimilation, and innovative technologies.

E-CONTRAIL showed the progress of the research team through a presentation on the project's work package 2, entitled "Radiative forcing of cirrus clouds and contrails", by Ermioni Dimitropoulou of the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium.
